You have been invited to join the fight against cancer!

What is the American Institute for Cancer Research?

Since its founding in 1982, the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) has grown into the nation's leading charity in the field of diet, physical activity and weight management as they relate to cancer prevention. The AICR supports research into the role of diet and physical activity in the prevention and treatment of cancer, and offers a wide range of cancer-prevention education programs. By adopting AICR Recommendations for Cancer Prevention, scientists estimate the risk of cancer could be reduced by about one-third.

Are we making a difference in the fight against cancer?

YES - recent cancer incidence estimates, based on the Federal government's statistics, indicate for the first time cancer incidence rates are declining. Experts say it's not solely due to medical breakthroughs or new drugs, but because people are more aware than ever of the changes that can help prevent cancer: eating healthier, exercising more, watching their weight and smoking less.

What is the Campaign for Cancer Prevention?

The Campaign for Cancer Prevention is a concentrated effort by the American Institute for Cancer Research and its volunteers to raise awareness about the role healthy lifestyles play in preventing cancer. We are asking our friends and neighbors to join us in supporting this cause, so we can fund more research, educate more people and play an even greater role in preventing cancer. Together, we can make a big difference!

Can eating right really help prevent cancer?

YES - changing your diet can help prevent cancer. Research shows that dietary change, physical activity and elimination of tobacco could decrease cancer incidents by 60 to 70 percent! That’s why the AICR’s mission is to provide funding for research into the relationship between diet, nutrition and cancer, and to inform everyone how a healthy diet NOW can help prevent cancer in the future.
